Maintaining good oral hygiene is essential. Losing even one tooth can significantly affect your overall oral health and aesthetics. While dentists strive to save every tooth, there are times when extraction becomes necessary. A tooth might need to be removed for reasons such as: - Severe decay - Advanced periodontal disease - Infection or abscess - Orthodontic adjustments - Misaligned teeth - Cracked teeth or roots - Impacted teeth Following a thorough assessment, including X-rays to evaluate the tooth’s condition and the surrounding bone, your dentist may recommend an extraction. Depending on the complexity of the procedure, a referral to an oral surgeon might be necessary. Some pain and discomfort are common after an extraction, but these can be alleviated with pain medications and applying ice packs to the face for 15-minute intervals. Most discomfort should diminish within three days up to two weeks. If you experience significant pain, swelling, bleeding, or fever that persists, please contact our office right away.
"Welcoming, professional and respectful of patients levels of anxiety/ and distress regarding dental procedures. The staff takes excellent care in the comfort of patients. Questions are answered respectfully. Warmth and concern are expressed approximately. This is a practice that builds relationships between professional staff and their patients- who are not just “passing through” but are part of the practice- which is not so large that one feels like a number- not an individual."
