Dr. Rafaela Dejanovic hails from Croatia but was raised just outside of Manhattan. Her mother, Dr. Ljiljana Frkovic, a dentist, fueled her passion for the field, alongside her orthodontist and childhood friend, Dr. Kathleen Hargaden. Dr. Dejanovic earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Rutgers University and went on to secure a Master's in Biomedical Science from Rutgers Medical and Dental School. She graduated from NYU College of Dentistry, where she learned from leaders in cosmetic dentistry, and completed a general residency at NYU Lutheran Medical Center, a level 1 trauma facility, before relocating to Wilmington in 2017. She takes pride in connecting with her patients, ensuring that they are at ease during their visits. Dr. Dejanovic finds great joy in boosting her patients' confidence by enhancing their smiles and alleviating their dental anxieties.
Dr. Dejanovic is dedicated to continually expanding her expertise in various fields such as cosmetic dentistry, full mouth rehabilitation, Invisalign, sleep medicine, and TMJ treatment, among others. She actively participates in numerous professional organizations including the Cape Fear Study Club, Kois Study Club, Academy of General Dentistry, American Academy of Clear Aligners, and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. She also proudly serves as a member of the Rotary Club of Wilmington, engaging in efforts to support the community. Currently, she is on track to graduate in 2025 from the renowned Kois fellowship, Full Mouth Rehabilitation fellowship, and AGD fellowship. Outside of her passion for dentistry, Dr. Dejanovic enjoys fashion, culinary experiences, fitness, reading, beach outings, and spending time with her adorable Yorkie, CruElla, affectionately called DiDi, who brightens the office with her joyful presence.
At Danica Dental House, our dental hygienist, Anna Bruton, combines her expertise with a welcoming demeanor for our patients. Since joining our team in 2017, she has collaborated with Dr. Rafaela Dajanovic since her acquisition of the practice in 2022. Raised in Kure Beach, North Carolina, Anna has a personal bond with our practice, having been a patient in her teenage years. She earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in 2003, followed by an Associate's Degree in Dental Hygiene from Coastal Carolina Community College in Jacksonville, NC, in 2005. Anna's career began with a rewarding 12 years as a contract dental hygienist at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in Parris Island, South Carolina. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family at the beach, pursuing her love for reading, and staying active with workouts. Her friendly smile and sincere concern for our patients' dental health guarantee a positive and comfortable experience for everyone who visits her.
Suzy’s journey in dentistry began in 1986 when she graduated high school and attended the Case Western School of Dentistry in Cleveland, where she earned her degree in Expanded Function Dental Assisting. In 2001, she and her family relocated to Wilmington, continuing her dental career, and has been a valued team member in our office for the past 13 years. Suzy loves building relationships with each patient who enters our office, aiming to ensure they have the most pleasant and comfortable experience possible. It brings her joy knowing that they leave feeling satisfied with their care, especially when she sees their smiles afterward. After 38 years as a dental assistant, Suzy felt it was time for a new role. She collaborated with Dr. Dejanovic to transition into the position of Patient Care Coordinator, allowing her to pursue her passion for helping patients maintain their teeth and achieve stunning smiles.
